Requirements for commencement of cover

  Letter of acceptance of proposed quotation with instructions to be held covered and indicating the effective date.

  List of names of eligible members indicating date of birth, ID number (and category) where applicable.

  Copy of ID number for principals, spouses and dependants above the age of 18 years.

  Fully completed application forms for each member.

  Contact person(s) and their contact details.

What is covered under In-Patient cover?

  Admission in a NHIF accredited hospital.
  Accommodation for parent/guardian accompanying a child below 6 years.
  Doctors, Surgeons, and specialist fees.
  Laboratory investigations, x-rays, ultrasound, ECG, MRI scans.
  Prescribed drugs, dressings, surgical appliances, and nursing procedures.
  Theatre including surgeons fees and anesthetists fees.
  Intensive care (ICU)/High Dependency Unit (HDU).
  Limits - from Kshs. 50,000 to Kshs. 10,000,000 per family/ per person.

What is covered under Out-Patient cover?

  Consultation with a General Practitioner who is Registered with the Kenya Medical practitioners and dentist board.
  Consultation with a Specialist on referral by a General Practitioner.
  Laboratory investigations, X-rays, Electrocardiograms, Encephalograms.
  Outpatient procedures e.g. dressing and cleaning of wounds.
  Drugs/ medication dispensed.
  Limits - from Kshs. 30,000 to Kshs. 250,000 per family/ per person.

What is covered under Dental cover?

  Dental expenses including Consultation with a dentist, Anesthetists fees.
  Hospital and Operating Theatre costs relating to extractions and fillings i.e. treatment of the teeth or accidental damage to dentures.
  Limits- from Kshs. 10,000 to Kshs. 30,000 per person/ family.

What is covered under Optical cover?

  Cost of eye testing.
  Eyeglasses and contact lenses (non-disposable).
  Replacement of frames accidentally damaged.
  Replacement of existing lenses as part of further treatment.
  Limits - from Kshs. 10,000 to Kshs. 30,000 per person/ family.

What is covered under Maternity cover?

  Maternity cover will cater for, Delivery expenses.
  Pre-natal care.
  Post-natal care and Ultrasounds all within the maternity limit.
  Limits- from Kshs. 50,000 to Kshs. 150,000 per principal member or spouse.

What are the exclusions?

  Any expenses which are payable by any other Insurance e.g. NHIF, WIBA.
  Any expenses for medical examinations done for check-up purposes not authorized.
  Family planning and fertility treatment i.e. costs of treatment related to infertility and impotence.
  Intentional self-injury, suicide or attempted suicide, intoxication, drunkenness.
  Cosmetic surgery, massage or beauty treatment.
  Naval, Military and Air force operations.
  Riding or driving in any kind of race.
  Participation in extreme/hazardous or professional sports.
  Stays at sanatoria, old age homes, places of rest etc.
  Participation in war, invasion, civil war, riots or act of terrorism.
  Alternative non-conventional therapy such as chiropractors, acupuncturists or herbalists treatment.
  Expenditure incurred by a member or dependants arising from any illegal or criminal act.
  Purchase of: Applicators, toiletries, patented foods and nutritional supplements including baby foods; Contraceptive preparations, remedies and devices; tonics, slimming preparations, appetite suppressants and drugs as advertised to the public for the specific treatment of obesity; sunscreen and sun tanning lotion; soaps and shampoos (medicinal or otherwise); vitamins and multivitamins; remedies for body building purposes; aphrodisiacs; household bandages, cotton wool, dressings and similar aids.
  Any treatment arising from an accident or event because the member and/or dependants was/were under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
